RULES

The MIRADA CORTA jury will select the winners of all competitions at the end of the festival. The cash prizes will also be announced on the same date, along with the People’s Choice Award.

By submitting a film to MIRADA CORTA, the submitter automatically accepts all the rules stated below.

 

  • The person responsible for the film submission to our competition must possess the film rights and have the authorization from the film’s author for its projection and use. The relationship between the festival is exclusive to the film’s submitter to the competition.
  • The submitter must enter their project in one of the main competitions: VOCES DEL MUNDO, OPERA PRIMA, VOCES MEXICANAS, ANIMANIA, DOCS, OTRA MIRADA, STUDENT LAB, HORROR NIGHTS. Submitters must fill in the names of the corresponding artists for each category.
  • The MEXICAN VOICES competition only accepts films from Mexican filmmakers. Partner productions will be accepted as long as one of the parties represents Mexico.
  • The decision regarding the official selection of films in competition, as well as the assigned awards, is final and unappealable. Our programming team and jury will make their selections independently.
  • The submission fees are non-refundable in case of withdrawal. To review the payment structure and fees, please visit https://filmfreeway.com/MIRADACORTA.
  • All films must have English subtitles to be evaluated by our programming team. All foreign language films (non-Spanish) selected to be screened during the festival must have subtitles in Spanish and English.
  • The required format for film exhibition is DCP. The submitter is responsible for providing a copy in HD. Physical copies will not be returned by the festival.
  • The maximum duration should not exceed 35 minutes.
  • Students benefiting from the relevant discount must present identification from their affiliated institution.
  • By participating in this competition, the submitter authorizes MIRADA CORTA organization to use press materials, posters, catalogs, promotional and distribution materials, as well as the exhibition of the film at the specified location and dates.
  • VISIONES UNICAS is a parallel competition that will take place through an online platform. The programming team selects a selection of projects that will be invited to participate in this competition. Invited films must accept or decline the online screening of the film on the indicated dates. All participating films in the online competition will be eligible to compete for a prize of USD 1000.
  • MIRADA CORTA reserves the right to disqualify any project whose content is deemed inappropriate. MIRADA CORTA will not tolerate films that promote any form of racism or discrimination.
  • When submitting your film, you are consenting to our Privacy Policy. We are committed to respecting each filmmaker’s preferences. We might contact you through your email or social media provided in the submission page to communicate updates on your submission status, screening and DCP requirements, events ticket confirmation, as well as to provide information about events, services, promotions that we think you might be interested in. You can unsubscribe from any marketing or advertising newsletter from us or any partner festival simply by clicking unsubscribe. Even when unsubscribing from a marketing newsletter, you can still receive any communication regarding your submission status through the FilmFreeway system.
